EMDR Therapy

Where evidence-based therapy meets inner transformation

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy used to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, and painful life experiences, without having to relive everything in detail.

Instead of just talking about your pain, EMDR helps your brain and body reprocess stuck memories to release emotional charge, and form new, empowered beliefs.Think of it as clearing old energetic debris, so you can move forward, feeling lighter and more free.

How it Works

EMDR is an eight phase model that uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, taps, or sounds) to help your brain process unhealed experiences in a safe, guided way.
In an EMDR session, we might:

  • Identify a memory, belief, or feeling that’s causing distress

  • Connect it to past experiences, current triggers, and future fears

  • Use bilateral stimulation to reprocess what’s stuck—often resulting in emotional relief, body release, and insight

  • Install a new, empowered belief like: “I am safe now.” or “I am lovable.”

EMDR can be done in person or virtually, using tools that are effective and grounding.

"Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you."
— Rachel Naomi Remen

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to talk about the trauma in detail?

No, one of the beautiful aspects of EMDR is that you don’t need to re-tell or re-live everything. The focus is on what’s showing up now, in your body, emotions, and  beliefs about the trauma, and processing it safely from there.

Q: Does EMDR work online?

Yes, I offer EMDR via secure video sessions, using bilateral stimulation tools adapted for virtual work. Many clients find online EMDR just as effective and enjoy having the comforts of their own environment.

Q: Will I be in control of the process?

Always. We go at your pace and you are in charge. EMDR lets your brain, body, and emotions lead the way, and I’m here to gently guide the process. It’s powerful work, and the reprocessing only happens when you’re truly ready.

Q: Will EMDR make me feel worse before I feel better?

Reprocessing memories can sometimes feel activating or dysregulating, but you won’t go into it unprepared. Before we begin that phase of EMDR, we spend intentional time building coping skills and nervous system regulation tools to support you. These tools are also woven into the reprocessing itself, so that your system stays as steady and supported as possible. We’ll always stay within what feels safe and tolerable for you.

Q: How many EMDR sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals and the complexity of what you’re working through. Some clients experience relief in a few sessions; others use EMDR as part of longer-term work. We’ll collaborate to create a plan that best supports your goals.
